Week 22 2012

21745_900x1350Batman Beyond Unlimited #4

Good issue, didn’t totally hate it.  My issues stem from this comic trying to pass off as Earth 1, no, it’s not.  What happens here doesn’t totally coincide with the current universe.  That aside, the writing ins good.  I like the angular strokes made with the artwork but more work needs to done.  I think that the color scheme they use is a little too bright but over all I like it a lot, especially the way the colors overlap one another on the pages.

The Engines

Good, issue, slightly confused however.  I mean I think there is a story here that was not covered in an issue, however, I am glad that the writers are tying up stories that were in the previous issues, now there is some validation to them versus them being fluff, which is what I originally thought.  Anyway I liked the writing, and the story was interesting.  Overall the writing was decent and I liked the pencilling in this issue, it was smooth with the right amount of shadowing and texturizing.  There were some parts of the art that I didn’t like where it was just “messy”, but over all, decent.

Boba Fett is Dead

Well, glad that we finally get to meet Sintas Vel.  Nice to have a face to the mother of Boba Fett’s daughter.  Um, read the books dudes, they are awesome.  Anyway, loved this issue, and I love the artwork.  The inking flows and the colors meld together.  However, as much as I loved the fluidity of the artwork, I want more definition on faces and facial expressions because sometimes they look like a mess and only context gives me an idea of what they are feeling and expressing.  Writing, as always, is phenomenal.
