The 10th Kingdom Sequel: The House of Wolves

The10thKD164I know I keep harping on all these sequels that I want.  But can you blame me? I mean, there is a reason I love these movies/mini-series.  I mean, the likelihood that someone will read this and say, “hey, this is a great idea,” is slim to none, I admit.  But there is always that hope that someone will read this and do it. According to AngelFire.com, it took Simon Moore, the creator, and writer of The 10th Kingdom, more than 12 years to make the original miniseries.

That was all before 2000.  After 2000, after the NBC debut, Moore replied to fan letters with a short synopsis of the sequel (since it was hinted at in the ending of The 10th Kingdom).  He told fans that it would take place mainly in the 2nd Kingdom and would center around Wolf (who was played by Scott Cohen) this time.  He also said that Virginia was very much pregnant.

In 2001 it was noted that all the actors, except for John Larroquette [Tony], were interested in returning for the sequel.  However, even he said he would return for a short cameo role.  He reasoned that he hated the 6-months of filming that had taken him away from his family.  This is entirely understandable; people get homesick. We all know there never was a sequel.  Hallmark never picked it up, and neither did NBC, even though fans have been asking for it for 11 years.

NBC’s whole reasoning is because miniseries had dismal ratings in America anyway, making them have little to no interest in a sequel.  However, Hallmark had more orders for the boxed tape than they could fill.  I contributed, buying both the video boxed set and the DVD when it came out on DVD. There is a little hope, though.  As of March 2004, Moore said in an interview:

“I would love to continue the adventures of Wolf and Virginia, but there are a number of obstacles in the way. However, as some of you know, The 10th Kingdom took nearly twelve years to get made, so don’t give up on a sequel quite yet!”

In 2006, Moore gave a little less hopeful response saying:

“Most of you know that a second series of 10th Kingdom is something I would love to do, but we will all have to wait until the time is right and the opportunity presents itself. I have no more news on the subject, but if it is meant to happen, then one day it will…”

I would love a sequel. Heck, even a prequel would be excellent.  Who says it has to be another miniseries?  It could be a movie or even a TV Series.  Fairy Tale shows are all the rage at the moment.  So why not? If you would like to see a sequel, you can sign The 10th Kingdom Sequel Petition.  I did!

  1. I have been waiting for a sequel for years … It still is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. Most of the main characters are still alive and looking great. While I’m typing John Larraquett is on Night Court and is just a good looking as ever. I loved the music throughout the entire series… Please Bring them all back!!!!!

  2. I have watched the 10th Kingdom many times over the past 20 years and have always wondered why a sequel wasn’t ever made. I’ve bought several CDs as presents and watched the series with my children and their children. I would absolutely LOVE to watch the sequel and learn what happened to its character’s especially Wolf, Virginia and their baby.

    1. I just found this mini series The 10th Kingdom and absolutely loved it. I wish they had done a sequel.

    2. My daughter and I would love to see a sequel as well. We just binged watch the entire mini-series this afternoon and we’re left basically hanging. Such a great concept. I wish they would do something more with it, maybe they will with the extremely popular The Way Home……

  3. Yes, a sequel should be made! It’s never to late! It was an enjoyable mini series!

  4. Just watched on Amazon Prime. I like Wolf…he’s even more of a nervous wreck than I am!

  5. I would love it if there was a “The 10th Kingdom” Sequel! Even if all of the actors are a bit older, the story could very well take place in 2020. The 10th Kingdom miniseries was such an unexpected delight (I only learned about it a few years ago, and finished the entire series in a day), and after a hard year like this, I think the world could use a little more fairytale and joy.

      1. I absolutely love the tenth kingdom I’ve watched it many times I would love to see a sequel please do another one it is out of this world quite literally lol thank you

    1. I watched this when it aired on TV in 2000. I think it was on the network ABC. Literally been waiting 20 years for a sequel. I know it will never happen but to this day this is still one of my favorite made for tv mini series. This one and if you haven’t ever watched it Dinotopia also ran along this line as well of fantasia adventure and it was a made for tv series as well i think also for ABC network.

  6. I would love to see a second and third series as wolf and virginia are great would love to get to see the baby then them take baby to meet grandpa then see the way they all live in both worlds

  7. I would love a sequel to the 10th Kingdom. When it was first shown in 2000, I was actually going through aggressive chemo therapy for breast cancer. It allowed me to deal with all the pain and sickness that had taken over my life for 9 months. It was actually the highlight of that horrible year. I have been wishing for the story to continue just like everyone else for 21 years now. It is so irritating and disappointing when so many great series just stop after one or two seasons. There are so many less creative and mediocre shows that seem to go on forever. Just sad that the 10th Kingdom ended so soon with a teaser of a following chapter. Please, please, please find a way to bring it to life for all us fans🙏

    1. Not the 10th Kingdom I know but for all those who love the Tony character I have just watched him in a series called the Librarians , he played a older wiser character who all the others came to for advice , maybe not as good as the 10th but nearly there. Perhaps there is hope for a sequel to the 10th find out who made the Librarians and get them to make it and say to Tony you can only do one if you do the other 🙂 . Librarians was on Pick Channel in the UK by the way

  8. I have always loved this series and also want a continuation either another mini series or a full on tv series. Be prequel or sequel. Unfortunately the actors are now much older and may not be able to reprise some of their roles nor want to…. so I guess a prequel would be preferred or even a book that is a continuation. I’d love that too

    1. Here’s a thought, what about something like this.

Wolf and Virginia (2021) recieve an urgent mouse-gram from Prince Wendell, that Tony is “..
In dire trouble…,” and their presence is requested “…at once! Come prepared to stay for a while.”

At this period in time however, Wolf is working on Wall Street and Virginia has moved the family to Virginia, to be closer to her work. Their kids are now grown. ‘Rose’ is 22 an aspiring writer, and her brother, ‘Thorndyke;’ the name, a gift from Prince Wendell, sent by varied on the day of the birth of the twins…

      TBC…

Synopsis by Robert Ray Watson, May 8, 2021
Just in case someone is really interested.

  9. I’m the same! I love the 10th kingdom! Maybe we should try and reach out to the network or the author (Kristine Kathryn Rusch) for a second book?

  10. There’s got to be more stories to be told from this world! 20 years later with the child grown

      1. There needs to be a sequel or prequel just leaves you with an open ending

  11. I can’t believe you have kept this website up all these years. I have visited several times over the years. So 20 years and we are all still waiting for a sequel. Glad to know I am not alone.

  12. Absolutely love love love this mini series and would love a sequel to The 10th Kingdom. I’ve owned the complete DVD series for years now and my daughter and I really enjoy watching it often!!!

  13. I absolutely love this miniseries. I would like to see more. Can’t they make the future shows to be movies? I want to see what happens next!!!!

  14. Love to see a = the movie 10th Kingdom then waiting for it for a long time can’t wait to see it somebody needs to pick it up and turn into a movie you’re tell me where I can buy the book hopefully more than one sequel will come out what it great series kudos to the author

  15. Would love to see a sequil to the 10 th kingdom have original just dreaming

  16. Definitely need a sequel. No matter what has to happen I’m still waiting for it to

  17. Still patiently waiting for prequel/sequels to one of the best by far fantasy/fairytale series. Can’t believe at a time when we have so many superhero and GoT genres shoved at us, no one is willing to produced this. Too family orientated, not enough sex & violence???? This was one series, no matter the age, which we could all sit down and laugh (sometimes even sing & dance) like crazy to.

  18. I am a huge fan of the 10th kingdom and first started watching it on VHS (subtitles were not even available). The 10th kingdom made me realize how much I love fantasy. Its been my all time favorite since I was a little girl. You have no idea how happy I was to be able to rebuy it in Blue ray (subtitles available). I have been waiting and hoping for years that people will realize how amazing the 10th kingdom is and want more and maybe just maybe they will finally do the sequel as promised (the way it ended).

  19. I just binged all the first season of the 10th kingdom. At the end when Virginia says there was another problem in the kingdoms it drags you in wanting more. I would to see more of wolf and Virginia.
