Imogen Poots In Talks To Join Aaron Paul In the Need For Speed Movie

The upcoming video game adaptation Need For Speed became a whole lot more interesting when it was announced earlier this month that Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul had signed to to front the movie as the lead, but now things are developing even more as the film has landed its female lead. Imogen Poots, who is best known for roles in movies like 28 Weeks Later and the Fright Nightremake, is now in negotiations with Dreamworks to play one of the main roles in the project.

Described by the studio as being “rooted in the tradition of the great car-culture films of the ’70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise,” the new movie will feature Boots as an exotic car dealer who works with wealthy customers, according to THR. George and John Gatins are working on the script while Scott Waugh, co-director of the “real marines” action film Act of Valor, is set to helm. The studio has already announced that the movie, which won’t be based specifically on any of the previously released video game titles, will be released on February 7, 2014.

Poots recently starred in the Jeff Buckley biopic Greetings from Tim Buckley with Penn Badgley, and is also featured alongside the likes of Christopher Walken, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Catherine Keener and Wallace Shawn in A Late Quartet. She recently completed production on the Irvine Welsh adaptation Filth and has a part in Terrence Malick‘s Knight of Cups with Christian Bale, Natalie Portman and Cate Blanchett.
