Mark Wahlberg And Dwayne Johnson Lift Weights And Kidnap People In First Pain And Gain Trailer

By: Eric Eisenberg

After five straight years of making Transformers movies, Michael Bay promised to change things up with his next project – and it seemed like he was. Instead of going for some new major action blockbuster, he instead committed himself to Pain & Gain, a project that the director described as a Coen brothers-esque dark comedy about a group of muscleheads who try and make a quick buck through a kidnapping plot. Unfortunately now the first trailer for the film has arrived online and – surprise, surprise – it looks exactly like every other Michael Bay movie.

The preview made its way online via the Yahoo! Movies UK site, but considering it’s labeled as “Pain and Gain PG-13 Trailer 1″ I have a feeling that it’s a domestic trailer, not an international one (PG-13 doesn’t exist in the UK).

Based on a true story and written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (Captain America: The First Avenger), Pain & Gain tells the story of Daniel Lugo and Paul Doyle (Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson), two steroid-taking gym rats who plot to kidnap a local business man (Tony Shalhoub) and get him to give them everything that he has. Unfortunately the plan goes very, very wrong and after being beaten and left for dead the businessman hires a hard-nosed private investigator (Ed Harris) to go after his attackers. Rebel Wilson, Anthony Mackie, Ken Jeong and Rob Corddry co-star in the movie, which will be out on April 26, 2013. Head over to our dedicated Pain & Gain page to find out more.
