On the official Final Fantasy XIV forums, Naoki Yoshida announced that phase 1 of the games beta will begin February 25th. The team was hoping to have the roadmap for the games beta out mid-February, but this has come a little late.

The extra time has given the team a chance to prepare more system features and character options during the beta. There are also a ton of new screenshots that he uploaded along with this post showing off how the beta is looking so far. These screenshots show off the Full Active Time Events system otherwise known as FATE for short.

Yoshida describes the new FATE system as:

These events will take place in non-instanced areas and appear at random. Players can participate by simply being within proximity of the event, and there’s no need to form parties. Rewards are automatically distributed when it’s over, making it easy to jump in and have fun.

Wrapping up all the new information on A Realm Reborn, guildhest will be the new name for the behest system. The team though it deserved a new name and they seem to be pretty smart doing so. If you were accepted in the beta you will receive an email sometime soon with more details. The first phase of this beta is only for PC player and PS3 fans will need to be a bit more patient.
