Captain America: The Winter Soldier Adding UFC’s Georges St-Pierre?

Captain_America_the_Winter_Soldier_36581It would seem that former WWE star Dave Bautista, who was recently cast as Drax The Destroyer in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, may not be the only professional fighter who will be a part of the Phase Two plans for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A new story has popped up over on Latino-Review saying that Georges St-Pierre, the current UFC Welterweight Champion, has just signed on for a role in the anticipated sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

According to the site’s source, the mixed martial artist has signed on to the film to play Batroc the Leaper, a French kickboxing villain who is primarily known from the comics as an adversary of the titular patriotic hero. While the character has no real superpowers to speak of, he is an expert in the French martial art savate, or French footfighting. Born Georges Batroc, he served in the French Foreign Legion before becoming a costumed mercenary for hire. His nickname comes from the fact that his legs are extremely well developed – not a surprise given the amount of kicking he does – and that he has the ability to leap incredible, Olympic-level distances.

But that’s not all of the information that the site has uncovered. In addition to the possible St-Pierre casting, Latino-Review also claims that they have learned the name of the character that could be played by Robert Redford (as reported late last week). The character is said to be one of the top ranking officials in S.H.I.E.L.D. and the new report says that his name is Pierre.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is set to be released on April 4, 2014, is already set to see Chris Evans return as the titular hero for the third time, and will see him joined by Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes a.k.a. The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter,Frank Grillo as Crossbones, and Anthony Mackie as The Falcon. The movie will also feature the return of Toby Jones as Arnim Zola and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and it’s been rumored that it will have Scarlett Johansson back as Black Widow as well.
