As of this moment, the best part of this show is Jake (Nico Tortorella). The progression from this sweet boy to this cold blooded killer highlights just how possible it is for anyone to becoming a killer because once that part of the brain is affected, there are just so many ways it could go and often times than naught, a dark path is walked. That is what makes this show so incredibly enthralling. There are issues with the pace of the show however. The plot line for this first season could be stretched out a little longer, right now it just feels like a lot is going on and going quickly not giving the viewer enough time to really let any of it sink in. That being said, there is a lot of room or improvement even though the cast it great.
What was especially perfect about this episode though was the fact that we got to see the darker sides of Claire (Natalie Zea) and Ryan (Kevin Bacon). With Claire it was more out of a sense of paternal protection towards her son, but the lengths, the show of the fact that she would kill Emma (Valorie Curry), and really who wouldn’t, was astounding. And as for Ryan, there was true darkness in him that just makes the dynamic of the show that much stronger. It’s amazing. Valorie Curry acting leaves some to be desired but with the cast around her, I have hope. Mondays @ 9PM EST on FOX.
