The film tells the story of Jackie Robinson and, under the guidance of team executive Branch Rickey, Robinson’s signing with the Brooklyn Dodgers to become the first African-American player to break the baseball color barrier. The story focuses mostly on the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers season and somewhat on Robinson’s 1946 season with the Montreal Royals.

Jackie Robinson was truly an American Hero.  He was able to hold his own in a game that was run by white people and establish himself as a team member and a great ball player.  One of the greatest in my opinion.  The writing for this movie was able to show the struggles that he had to deal with and overcome as a black man in a white man’s sport.  Chadwick Boseman was amazing.  He was able to tap into who Jackie Robinson was and show the strength he had to hold himself back and do nothing but play the game.

Brilliantly done movie, with a lot of heart in every scene.  The acting was great; everyone was great to act how they had to act, to show all the emotion and all the strength that the real people had in order to overcome all the racism and segregation in the world at that time.  Profound movie and it was about darn time someone made a movie about Jackie Robinson.  Simply amazing movie, a movie that captured all the hardships in the world at that time.  Each character to overcome something, and some were very understanding and amazing in their parts, and the real people at the time were strong, going against the “norm” and against their home citites and the racism that filled the world.  It highlighted and showed the reality of how thick racism was in the world and the game itself.  Everything about this movie was amazing.  There really is nothing to complain about.  Showed how far we have come and where we, as society, stands now in comparison to what it once was.  Jackie Robinson, you were an amazing man.  ★★★★ (A+)
