PlayStation Now wasn’t the only game-streaming service exhibited at the Consumer Electronics Show 2014. Toshiba also announced that in the first quarter of 2014 it will ship a new line of smart TVs that can stream games using the GameNow service.

The Toshiba L7400U, L5400U, and L3400U models all come with GameNow installed, in addition to other apps that are popular on Smart TVs like YouTube, Netflix and Pandora. At the moment, GameNow has deals in place to stream PC versions of Capcom games like Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4, and Dead Rising 2, and with Warner Bros. for Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City.

Ubitus, the Taiwanese company that owns GameNow, has also made similar deals with Konami, Sega, and Square Enix. At E3 2013, electronics manufacturer LG also announced that it’s planning to ship Smart TVs that include GameNow.

According to the company’s official website, newly registered accounts to GameNow get a 30 minute free trial for each game . After that, GameNow offers different subscription plans or game pack deals.

Sony announced the upcoming PlayStation Now service at their CES 2014 keynote address, and we got some hands-on time with it at the show. The service will allow users to stream a selection of PS1, PS2, and PS3 games to both the PS3 and PS4, as well as the PlayStation Vita, Sony 2014 Bravia TVs, and even mobile and tablet devices. The service demoed well at the show, with no discernible lag even on graphically intensive games.

Polygon reported that the GameNow service didn’t work as well, saying games were “playable, but laggy.”
