Review/Recap Forever | ‘The Art of Murder’

By: Cynthia Ayala

“When the matriarch of one of New York’s wealthiest families dies, the family demands answers; memories brought on by the case torment Henry.”

  • Synopsis provided by Shazam

Another impressive episode. This show has all the charm of Sherlock Holmes with that added mystery behind it that builds the supernatural brilliantly. It was a well thought out episode that offered a lot in regards towards the past.

Henry is solving the case of a woman he knew in another life, a woman who he met and who encouraged him to marry the woman he loved. So there is a sense of debt that he feels towards solving her murder, towards solving her death that turns out not to be what it seems. That was an interesting aspect of the show. But the best part was when he was removed as the medical examiner of the case. That was pure hilarity. He’s going around, acting just a bit crazy as he strives to solve this case, driving everyone around him crazy as well. The facial expressions that he employs was also expertly done, captivating the audiences. Ioan Gruffudd in an amazing actor who brings the show to life. His voice over that is used as a narrative sums up the events while also giving them a deep emotional connection to this long life. After all, he’s immortal, he’s over 200 years old so it shows how he’s not embittered, how he continues to hold onto hope and continues to live.

Overall, this show is a well-written and fun entertaining show. My only fear is that the narrative will become tiresome and nonessential in future episodes.
