Review/Recap Sleepy Hollow | ‘Go Where I Send Thee…’

By: Cynthia Ayala
“While searching for a missing child, Abbie and Ichabod encounter a Pied Piper-like creature whose connection to the child’s family goes back hundreds of years.”

Peter Piper picked a pack of peppers. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Now onto the actual episode. This was a good episode. This series is without a doubt fun and exciting and every episode has it’s own story that has a faint connection to the overall plot line. But the individual stories bring the characters together and bring the show to life and give it something worth watching.
Each episode works as a standalone story that continues to connect the past of Ichabod to the present life of Abbie. The Pied Piper was betrayed so he’s cursing this family, taking a daughter of the family who used him and betrayed him because he sold his soul to Moloch. Another evil being that needs to be taken care of.
It was really hilarious because Nicole Beharie, in her scenes when she is being controlled and entranced by the music of the pipe, she looks absolutely stoned and that was priceless. Even in the most serious of scenes her and Tom Mison are able to create such humor in the show and it’s just priceless chemistry between the pair of them.
Then there is the added note Mison’s brilliant one-liners in the show. I didn’t really notice them, I mean I did but now I’m finally remarking on them, they are so much fun. They are clever and fit the character very well and the context. They are such accurate statements on the reality of society versus what life was like in the 18th century so it’s a lot of fun, especially for cynics like myself, to listen to these brilliant one-liners and just laugh and connect with the show.
It’s brilliant, its fun and I love this show.
Of course, I can’t watch it without thinking of Jonny Depp curled up in bed say “it was a horseman…without a head”.
