Godhead Act I | Part V: God is Red
I miss Dex-Starr. He was a good kitty, and he had better be okay. But I digress, seeing as he’s not in here I felt the need to express my feelings on the matter.
Now, let’s put our head in the game and focus on the issue at hand. Guy no longer wears his red ring, or so he claims, but now keeps it for when he feels he really needs it. Out on a beach with Tora, aka Ice, he is trying to forget the mini-war he had with Atrocitius. That is easier said than done when he is still a bearer of the red ring of rage. Not only that, but there is the added fact that when he faces off with the New Gods and get’s his tushie handed to him, well, this just puts him in all sorts of bad moods.
Over all, a good issue. It’s nice to see where things left off for him and how he is coping with being a red lantern, but there is more to his character than his rage. Soule develops the character from the inside out, tapping into the emotion of Guy who has, for the most part, been less tolerable than Hal – this is strictly my opinion of him from before Blackest Night; I’ve loved him ever since he went all RED when Kyle “died” – of course, that didn’t even last long. Guy is a very deep character and Soule is the writer who has begun to explore the depths of his character. Other than that, characterization is top-notch because Soule just makes the arrogant air surrounding the character so entertaining.
Nevertheless, I want Dex-Starr back.
