Hot Tub Time Machine Director Takes On Comedy Contractors

Contractors_34343After encountering some stumbling blocks, Relativity Media is finally ready to begin building their cast and crew for the comedy Contractors. They first acquired the rights to the spec script by Bob Fisher and David Hemingson back in 2007. Later Walt Becker, who has directed such comedies as Old Dogs, Wild Hogs, and Buying the Cow, was attached to helm, but now Becker is out and Hot Tub Time Machine helmer Steve Pink is in.

According to The Wrap, Pink has secured the directing gig, thanks in part to his revision of Fisher and Hemingson’s script. The movie will focus on two underachieving contractors based in the Hamptons, who are hired to build a dream house for a local millionaire and his girlfriend. What seems at first like a sweet gig gets complicated when the duo discovers the rich man’s lady is an ex of one of these blue-collar buds. Further plot details are not being offered at this time, but it’s safe to assume hijinks ensue that either aim to make the couple argue, or to delay the progress of the work to allow the exes a chance to rekindle their connection.

Pink appears to be a hot commodity right now. He just recently wrapped on Screen Gem’s remake of the saucy 1986 comedy About Last Night, and all ready he’s gearing up for Contractors‘s construction. However, it’s unclear if this will be his next feature as The Wrap notes the writer-director is also working on some capacity on Bad Santa 2 and an adaptation of Max Berry’s novel Company.
