Action Packed Ninja Fun | Review of ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’

By Cynthia Ayala

The LEGO Ninjago Movie starring Dave Franco, Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Zach Woods & Jackie Chan Warner Bros. Pictures Image Credit: IMDB

“Shunned by everyone for being the son of an evil warlord, a teenager seeks to defeat him with the help of his fellow ninjas.” —IMDB

I have loved every single LEGO movie that had come out, and while I admit that the first was so incredibly impressive, the films that have followed have not failed to impress me, and the LEGO Ninjago movie is no exception to that. These films do not try to be more than anything than they are, which is a comedic family friendly, fun, action-packed adventure. Moreover, that is precisely what the film achieves quite perfectly.

Worth the Watch | Review of ‘Nerve’

By Cynthia Ayala

Nerve starring Emma Roberts & Dave Franco
Lionsgate

“A high school senior finds herself immersed in an online game of truth or dare, where her every move starts to become manipulated by an anonymous community of ‘watchers.'”

—IMDB

Are you a player or a watcher? Nerve, based on the novel of the same name, is based heavily on the extreme’s some people take to be YouTube famous. But the film takes it to another level taking the control out of the daredevil and putting it in the hands of watchers, people who control the player and the game, giving them reckless dares that could cost them their lives. For Vee (played by Emma Roberts), becoming a player on Nerve is all about trying to prove herself, that she isn’t just the meek shy girl everyone thinks she is. Thrust into this game of do or die, she meets the handsome Ian (played by Dave Franco), another player in the Game who knows more than he is telling her.

Potential Floundered | Review of ‘Now You See Me 2’

By Cynthia Ayala

Now You See Me 2 starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Daniel Radcliffe & Lizzy Caplan
Summit Entertainment

The Four Horsemen resurface and are forcibly recruited by a tech genius to pull off their most impossible heist yet.

    —IMDB

Almost as good as it’s predecessor, but the film suffers from a big problem of overreaching which seems to be a big problem with Hollywood lately, just make things bigger, bring everything in, the story comes second. Same thing happened right here. The tricks are too big, too outlandish, and yes, I know that magic tricks can be as big as a plane, but for the film purposes, the story should come first, not second, to make for a more enjoyable experience. Warm Bodies Gets A Sweet, Funny New Poster

By: Eric Eisenberg When the first trailer arrived last week a lot of people quickly changed their minds about the upcoming zom-rom-com Warm Bodies. While the first few official stills seemed to paint it as “Twilight with zombies” (it doesn’t help that it’s being released by the same studio), the footage we saw on Thursday replaced ideas of moody, sparkly members of the undead with … Continue reading Warm Bodies Gets A Sweet, Funny New Poster

First Look At Nicholas Hoult As A Zombie In Warm Bodies

By: Eric Eisenberg Nicholas Hoult is no stranger to heavy makeup. While he looked fairly normal at the start of last summer’s X-Men: First Class, by the end of the movie he was blue, had an animal-like face, and was furry all over. In Jonathan Levine‘s Warm Bodies he will once again be undergoing a physical transformation, but instead of looking like a fuzzy beast, this … Continue reading First Look At Nicholas Hoult As A Zombie In Warm Bodies
