Xbox Live Gold subscribers get free Assassin’s Creed II later this month


By: Martin Gaston Assassin’s Creed II  will be the next free game offered as part of Microsoft’s Games With Gold promotion, Microsoft spokesperson Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb has confirmed. Xbox LiveGold subscribers will be able to download the game from July 16 until the end of the month. Microsoft earlier this week announced that XBLA tower-defence game Defense Grid: The Awakening would be the free game available between July 1 through July 15 . Dark Souls Xbox 360 Now Available Via Games On Demand

Dark Souls, which was the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls, launched to rave reviews on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. It featured the same loveable difficulty, with an improved sense of exploration and intrigue. It released on the PC a year later, with the “Prepare To Die” edition, which offered up some interesting downloadable content. []

Atlus To Shut Down Demon’s Souls Servers Next Month


After nearly 3 years of service, Atlus will be shutting down Demon’s Souls’ North American servers starting late next month. Atlus insists that this will not affect the game’s single player mode, although the publisher did not say if that includes the ability for players to leave notes and hints online. It’s also safe to assume that this might mean that certain stones which call in friends in time of need may no longer be useable, but this was not confirmed. The []
