Here’s hoping that Peter Facinelli and Dylan McDermott have compatible personalities, as the two will soon be sharing a lot of screen time together. Envision Media Arts has announced that the Twilight franchise star has joined the cast of the Freezer, a new thriller from director Mikael Salomon.
Set to start production later this month in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the story centers on a man named Robert (McDermott) who wakes up one morning to discover that a group of Russian thugs have locked him in an industrial freezer. While his captors claim that he stole $8 million from them, the truth is the protagonist has no idea what they’re talking about. Searching around the room, he then discovers Sam (Facinelli) under a pile of boxes, and the two of them slowly try to figure out exactly what is going on. Yuliya Snigir, who will soon be seen alongside Bruce Willis and Jai Courtney in A Good Day To Die Hard, has also joined the film, though her role is unspecified.
In a statement about Facinelli’s addition to the cast, producer Lee Nelson said in a statement, “Peter Facinelli will surprise a lot of people with this character. There is a subtlety and depth to his choices that keeps us guessing at every turn. It’s something we haven’t seen from him before and it’s truly exciting to watch.”
With his time as Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the Twilight movies now over, the star’s career is largely on the small screen, playing Dr. Fitch Cooper on the Showtime series Nurse Jackie. Season five of the series is scheduled to begin later this year.
