Director Robert Luketic hasn’t really proven himself to be one of the most talented filmmakers in Hollywood. Kicking off his career in 2001 with Legally Blonde, Luketic has spent the last 11 years making duds like Monster-in-Law, Win A Date With Tad Hamilton!, The Ugly Truth and Killers. Still, his career flourishes and somehow he’s managed to enlist an all star cast for one of his upcoming projects.
Liam Hemsworth is now set to star in Paranoia, a new film from Robert Luketic, and both Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford are in talks to play roles as well. Deadline describes the movie as a “corporate espionage thriller” about fighting telecom companies. The original script was written by Barry Levy, who is best known for writing Vantage Point, though Jason Hall (Spread) has been brought on-board for a rewrite. The article says that Hemsworth will have the lead role, and unfortunately doesn’t have any details about Oldman and Ford’s characters. IM Global is financing the project and Emjag’s Alexandra Milchan, Film 360′s Scott Lambert and Gaumont are producing.
Paranoia isn’t the only thing Luketic has in the works. He is currently in pre-production on Brilliant, a diamond heist film that is set to star Gerard Butler (with whom Luketic worked with on The Ugly Truth). It seems as though the filmmaker is actively moving away from the comedy genre into something more serious. We’ll have to wait and see if it pays off for him. Maybe he’ll come out the other side as a much better director.
Pretty great post. I simply stumbled upon your weblog and wished to say that I have really enjoyed browsing your blog posts. After all I will be subscribing to your feed and I’m hoping you write once more very soon!
I couldn’t be happier for him to be starring in a movie, even if it is one made by someone known for producing flops. Liam didn’t get nearly enough airtime in The Hunger Games, and his leading role in The Last Song was ruined by Miley Cyrus starring alongside him. I can’t wait to see him coming into his own on the big screen.
