If you’ve been following the recent Tales of Xillia 2 news, you already known that the playable characters consist of Ludger and all of the previous game’s playable characters. Namdai announced at TGS 2012 that more playable characters would be announced soon — it appears that soon means now.
Tales of Xillia 2 is a sequel to the original Tales of Xillia and takes place a year after its conclusion. The sequel features an improved battle system which allows the player to switch between different weapon styles at-will during battle. Direct choices can now be made during specific cutscenes similar to Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIII-2 which affects the outcome of the events in real-time.
Gaius, the King of Liese Maxia and Musee, a Great Spirit who’s Milla’s older sister are both playable in the sequel. Those who followed Baba’s comments after Xillia’s launch might remember that he planned for them to be playable in the first game, so if you were looking forward to that you should enjoy this news for the sequel.
We also have two new characters that have appeared in the trailers; a man in red named Ridou and Chronos who are doctors agents from Clanspia. In addition, we also have three new trailers released by Namco Bandai featuring Jude, Alvin and the DLC costumes available as pre-order bonuses in Japan and the game’s final boxart which features that artwork we saw earlier.
Tales of Xillia 2 will be released in Japan on November 1. The first game will be released sometime in 2013 in both North America and Europe.
