Mass Effect movie loses Thor writer

Legendary Entertainment is continuing work on the Mass Effect film, butThor and I Am Legend screenplay writer Mark Protosevich is no longer attached. Variety reports that Protosevich has been replaced by newcomer Morgan Davis Foehl.

Foehl has never had a script produced, but did serve as assistant editor on FX television show Rescue Me, as well as Adam Sandler comedies I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry and Click.

According to the report, producers at Legendary Entertainment were drawn to Foehl because he is a self-admitted Mass Effect fan and has experience writing scripts similar to the general Mass Effect plot.

The Mass Effect film was officially confirmed in 2010. A report from 2011 indicated the movie’s narrative would follow the first game in the series, though it is not clear if that remains the intention. No director has been named for the film nor any actors. It is also uncertain if Commander Shepard will be played by a male or female actor.
