Halle Berry, James Marsden And More Wanted To Return For X-Men: Days Of Future Past

X_Men_Days_of_Future_Past_34425There are technically three separate parts of the X-Men franchise universe as established by 20th Century Fox. The first part is the original trilogy, X-Men to X-Men: The Last Stand; then there is the Wolverine movies, which have so far included X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the upcoming The Wolverine; and most recently there was X-Men: First Class. While the sequel to the final title, the in-development X-Men: Days of Future Past, promises to be just that – bringing back James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult for a new go-round as Professor X, Magneto, Mystique and Beast. But what makes that particular project truly interesting is that it will also serve to bring all the parts of the X-Men universe together.

Late last month we learned that both Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen will be playing parts in Days of Future Past, and most recently it was reported that Hugh Jackman is in talks to return as Wolverine, but it appears that director Bryan Singer isn’t just stopping there. In a feature about the developing superhero film THR has revealed that the production is also looking to get Halle Berry, James Marsden and many of the other actors who played heroic mutants in the original trilogy to reprise their roles in the new film.

According to sources close to the production it shouldn’t be too hard a sell to get the actors back either. Apparently their characters would only be shown in the “alternate dystopic future” where giant robots called Sentinels are created to destroy all mutants, and that wouldn’t require a big time commitment. Plus there’s the fact that Singer is back in the director’s chair. Said the trade’s source on the cast development, “”There is a lot of willingness to participate because of Bryan.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past will go into production early next year and is currently scheduled to be released July 18, 2014.
