April Reading Wrap Up

Hey there, everyone! I can’t believe that it is already May. I’m so happy! I was able to read 10 books this month! Go me! I know I aimed for fourteen but really, I am super happy to be at 10. Anyway, here’s a quick look at what I read this week. Did anyone meet any reading goals this month?

A Thousand Heartbeats

I know I’m not really a romance reader but I absolutely loved this book. I’ve never read anything by Cass before so picking this up was a splendid surprise. I gave me Tristan and Isolde vibes that I absolutely loved.

Brightly Burning

This book has been on my shelves for years and now I’m mad I didn’t read it sooner. I love Jane Eyre so to have a Jane Eyre retelling in space orbiting Earth was such an interesting take and the plot twist at the end, did not see that coming.

The Weight of Our Sky

My education failed me with this book. I had never heard of the 1969 race riots and I’m so glad I read this book. It taught me so much and encouraged me to learn more. It was a heartbreaking story but absolutely worth reading.

These Infinite Threads

Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed here. I loved book one, but this was felt like a lot of filler. It wanted so much more and the scenes between Alizeh and Cyrus were becoming way to repetitive.

Spell Bound

Absolutely wholesome and adorable. I loved every minute of this book. It was amazing and sweet and unputdownable.

Yesterworld

This is a book 2….I need book 1 now. Why? Because this book was so well written. I wasn’t lost, but clearly I am missing parts. I want to know more, I need to fill in those gaps. Really loved this book and super excited a book 3 is planned.

A Year to the Day

The fluidity to this book was amazing! For a book that moved backwards, it felt so smooth and cinematic. It was touching, relatable, gut-wrenching, and realistic. It gave me more than I was expecting, but that is what made it so good.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Ace of Shades

Honestly, such a great book. What woorked so well was Enne’s character development. She went from proper girl to badass very easily and I was here for it. I’ve already started book 2. I’m hooked!

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The Cherished

You know, I wanted more. Jo was not an easy character to like. She was bratty and just, while I appreciated the growth in character dynamics, I wanted more from her. I just was not able to connect to her as a character.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The Witches of Moonshyne Manor

Not what I was expecting at all but I loved it. Eighty-year-old witches still being badasses. They were so cool and their differences helped each other be powerful. The way the story progressed, the way it grew, it was unpredictable from beginning to end and that was amazing! I love when a story catches me off guard.
