Beast Becomes Her Podcast Review | PTSD, Norse Mythology & Healing Through Fantasy

Some fantasy novels use magic as an escape.

Beast Becomes Her uses magic as a way to explore trauma, healing, and the anger that comes from surviving abuse.

In today’s episode, I’m reviewing Beast Becomes Her by Crystal Seitz, a dark YA fantasy that blends Norse mythology, a supernatural murder mystery, and a powerful exploration of PTSD, domestic violence, and recovery. The story follows Edith, a teen who discovers she’s a berserkrโ€”a descendant of ancient Norse warriors capable of transforming into animalsโ€”and is sent to a secret magical academy where murders begin to unfold around her.
