Today I’m reviewing Kingdom of Waves by Melissa de la Cruz—a fantasy filled with oceanic magic, political tension, and the pull of destiny beneath the surface.

I’ll admit, it took me a little while to get into this one. But considering the reader fatigue I’ve been dealing with lately, I think that had much more to do with me than the book.

Because once Kingdom of Waves finally hooked me?

I could not put it down.

And I mean that literally. I got to work three hours early, had about twenty pages left when it was time to clock in, and basically decided:

Nope. I’m finishing my book first. 😂

Thankfully, my coworkers know me, it wasn’t busy, and I was only a few minutes late.

But then I reached that ending and immediately regretted finishing it because—

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT CLIFFHANGER?!
