Okay, so I was reading this article about a Chinese National, a Chinese Olympic Gold Metalist named Tian Liang. He had a second child, and authorities in China are investigating him for violating the, somewhat understandable, barbaric law. I understand that there is a great overpopulation in China, I mean I believe that there is a overpopulation in the world in general. But I think it does more harm than good. I mean I believe that it puts such a strain on the families, to plan their family around these laws. Most are content with simply one child, but what about the many who want to have families? I honestly believe that Asians should have the rights that are given to others. If anything, I think the churches should promote birth control, I’m Catholic, and I believe what the bible says, but something’s should not be taken so literally or followed to the letter. Here is an excerpt of the article:
“Authorities in China are investigating a former Olympic diving gold medalist for violating the One-Child Policy by arranging the birth of his second child in Hong Kong. The commission said it would reveal the result of a probe on whether Tian Liang and his wife were eligible for a second child or whether they had violated the policy. Tian, 32, who won two Olympic gold medals for China in diving, retired from the sport in 2007. The couple’s first child was born in 2008; they welcomed their second child this year in Hong Kong and have since faced accusations of violating the One-Child Policy. The government said it was revoking his Party membership and taking action against Tian in order to prevent others from thinking that giving birth in Hong Kong would spare them from adhering to the One-Child Policy.”
