Well it’s been confirmed! Rise of the Planet of the Apes has a sequel titled “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes”. Andy Serkis will be reprising his role of Caesar, the ultra-smart, genetically enhanced ape that led the Apes and Chimps and all those other monkeys to freedom.
While there has been no news on the plot, we can assume that it will be the rise of the apes. We saw at the end of the movie that the Pilot was infected, we saw what the chemical that was used in the enhancing and mutation of ape DNA is dangerous, even deadly to humans. Which sets the premise for the following movies. Airplanes work as incubators, giving the infection time to spread among the people. As with all mutations, it won’t kill everyone, those with stronger immunities will survive, those that are pregnant will give the unborn child in the womb to develop immunities. That’s how virus’s work.
So from this we can surmise that the the “virus” spread, found it’s way to other apes, leading to worldwide revolts. I can’t wait. I loved Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and I am very much anticipating this one. Rise of the Planet of the Apes, was a great way to reboot and reestablish this saga.
Rupert Wyatt is set to direct and the screenplay will be written by Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. Set release date is May 23, 2014.
