All We Hunger For Review | Magical Baking, Revolution & Romance

Today Iโ€™m reviewing All We Hunger For by Anna Mercier, a YA fantasy that combines magical baking, revolution, class inequality, political intrigue, and romance into a story that feels a little like The Great British Bake Off decided to overthrow the government.

And, I mean…

I’m here for it. ๐Ÿ˜‚

At the center of the story is Elara Rousseau, a talented baker living in the impoverished Restes Quarter of Anespรฉrer. Her mother led a failed rebellion and was executed, leaving Elara with a name that has essentially been blacklisted. But when she gets the opportunity to secretly enter the Objet dโ€™Art, a magical culinary competition whose winner becomes the next Souverain of Culinary Arts and joins the ruling council, Elara suddenly has a chance to change her futureโ€”and maybe the future of everyone living in the Restes.

It’s baking.

It’s magic.

It’s revolution.

And I had a really good time with this book.
