Today I’m reviewing All We Hunger For by Anna Mercier—a haunting fantasy that explores hunger in all its forms: power, belonging, love, ambition, and survival.
At first glance, this sounds like an incredibly fun concept: a magical baking competition where culinary artistry is quite literally magic. And that absolutely is part of the appeal.
But underneath all the delicious food and competition is a much more complicated story about class inequality, revolution, privilege, and who gets access to power.
And that’s what ultimately made this book so interesting to me.
