Odds Are…Half Decent | Review of ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’

Solo, unfortunately, offers up nothing new for the Star Wars universe but at the very least does bring together a great cast and new characters.

Week 30 2014 | Part 3 | Comic Reviews

Concluding this week outside of DC to delve into Star Wars and the Marvel Universe. They’re not one unit yet! First up is Original Sin #6 that brings readers a despicable Nick Fury, sacrificing story and plot to do so followed by Star Wars: Darth Maul – Son of Dathomir #3 that allies Count Dooku and Maul against the Jedi Forces. Happy Friday all! Hope you all have a great weekend. Don’t forget, Guardians of the Galaxy opens today. It was awesome!

Week 12 2014 | Part 2 | Comic Book Reviews

The Star Wars #6 — This issue just combined elements and scene similarities from episodes 2 to 6.  I’m not even kidding.  Reading this was by far one of the most entertaining of this miniseries so far due that one fact.  It’s interesting to see how exactly Lucas’s material has evolved and breathed life into an epic universe. However, this comic series is far from spectacular. The story is the story we all know, but very different.  Except there is a reason []

By: Cynthia A. Grimm Fairy Tales: OZ #6 Part 6 (of 6): Death in the Emerald City I did not see that coming.  The Tin Man was the bad guy while the Scarecrow was the good guy!  Of course, the writers made it a bit too obvious to suspect him so that made it obvious that he wasn’t the bad guy, but really, the Tin Man! Now, as good as this adaptation was, it left many questions unanswered.  What made Dorothy so []

By: Cynthia A. The Flash #27 History Lessons Part One As long as Party and Barry are still together, I think that I will be fine.  Anyway, in this last issue, a mass grave full of bodies that may have been the result of one serial killer. But the problem is that some of those victims were reported missing after years after the man was in prison. And here’s more, they happened in Barry’s neighborhood around the time when his mother was []

Week 5 2014 | Part 5 | Comic Reviews

By: Cynthia A. Star Wars Legacy II #11 Prisoner of the Floating World This series should have been a miniseries.  I keep picking it up and I keep hoping that this series is going to get better, faster in some way, yet, it continues to disappointment me.  The characterization, first, is lacking.  Ania Solo is not that captivating of a character.  While she is far better than she was in the beginning, she really doesn’t have a lot of charisma as a []

By: Cynthia A. Star Wars: Darth Vader #2 The Cry of Shadows – Part 2 Another amazing issue to go into the Darth Vader vault.  This issue revolves around the building relationship between the former clone trooper Koda as he dons on is old armor in the service of the Empire, his anger and hatred for the Jedi the glue that helps the relationship grow.  The issue is more narrative than anything, exploring who this character is and his motivation to join []

By: Cynthia A. Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi #3 Force War – Part 3 In the last issue, Trill, Force Hound to the Rakatan Empire, lead the Je-daii into a trap, revealing their plans to her masters.  In the end, she completed her trap by luring Xesh into a Rakatan base under the pretense of a recuse mission.  Now, both he and his Je’daii compatriots are in the hands of the enemy. Isn’t that exciting! This series takes place roughly 25 []

Week 51 2013 | Part 5 | Comic Reviews

By: Cynthia A. Star Wars: Dark Times #5 A Spark Remains Part 5 Another great conclusion to the Dark Times Saga!  Dark Times delivers a look at the Star Wars Universe right after the events of Revenge of the Sith.  Darth Vader is still hunting down the last remaining Jedi who escaped Order 66.  Jenir is one of them.  Not only that but he wants Vader to find him so that he can bring him down, kill the man who is, in []
