christian_slater_32934Lars von Trier’s Nymphomaniac already has a stellar cast lined up that includes Shia LaBeouf, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Jamie Bell and Connie Nielsen, but today he’s added another big name to the roster. Christian Slater has signed on for a part in the project, which is currently shooting in Cologne, Germany.

According to Variety the movie tells the story of a woman’s sexual life from her birth to age 50. The plot will unfold in eight chapters and will be told by a self-diagnosed nymphomaniac (hence the title) named Joe, played by Gainsbourg later in life and Stacy Martin when she is younger. While there are no details about how the actor will fit into the story, the trade says that Slater will be playing Joe’s father.

Slater recently starred in two seasons of the Fox series Breaking In (which was cancelled earlier this year) and has kept busy with a number of film roles. He will next be seen in Walter Hill’s Bullet To The Head with Sylvester Stallone, Sung Kang and Jason Momoa, but also completed Leone Marucci’s The Power of Few and is currently filming the horror sci-fi movie Stranded, which is being directed by Roger Christian.

Nymphomaniac began its production late last month and is currently in the midst of an 11-week long shooting schedule. It has been said that there will be two versions of the movie released and that one of the versions will contain possibly real onscreen sex. While the film does have some distributors secured overseas, there hasn’t been a taker in the US as of yet. It’s expected that the film will be released sometime in 2013.
