So it looks like there is not going to be a PS4 anytime soon BUT we are going to be getting a new PlayStation 3.  Sony has officially confirmed and revealed the new PS3 super slim at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.  Woot woot?

The console is said to only weigh 2.1kg, making it 20% lighter than the current PS3.  It’s also 25% smaller than the current PS3 slim.

The new PS3 will be available in 250GB and 500GB versions.  The 250GB PS3 will be available on September 25 in North America for $269.99 as part of a limited edition bundle featuring Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception Game of the Year edition.  The 500GB PS3 will be available in North America in a limited Edition Assassin’s Creed III bundle on October 30th.  There is no price set yet for this version.

Maybe I’ll actually get a PS3 now.  Backwards campatibility? No, I didn’t think so.
