The .hack games were at the peak level of popularity around the mid 2002’s on the PS2 and now it only seems to slowly live on in Japan through anime. That seems like it will change now and Hiroshi Matsuyama CEO/president of CyberConnect2 was at New York Comic Con 2012 and had this to say about future RPG titles:
“There is actually a [.hack] title that has yet to be revealed, in which we will implement new ideas. Stay tuned for details, as we’re not allowed to release them right now,” he told Gematsu.
So along with this new title Matsuyama said the game is targeting both console and handheld platforms.
This was defiantly a surprising bit of news that slide out of New York Comic Con and now all fans have to do is hope this comes outside Japan. What do you think about the .hack games finally making a real return? Let us know in the comments below.

OMG FINALLY! I love the whole series (games, anime, and manga) I’m so happy to hear there is a possibility of there being a new game. I hope it makes it to the states.
