‘Winds of Winter’ teasers by George R. R. Martin are killer

Fans of Game of Thrones have you heard? George R. R. Martin, the writer behind the masterful series, has released details on his upcoming book ‘Winds of Winter’. George R.R. Martin says the next installment in his bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire saga will feature even more heartbreaking twists including more deaths, betrayals and more weddings. Well, that certainly sounds frightful considering the last few wedding had nothing but bloodshed.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Martin did have this to say:

“I think we’re gonna start out with a big smash with the two enormous battles.”

Now, there are four armies in the series right now, so the two big battles could be between Ramsay and Stannis’ armies in the North, while the other battle would be (probably) between Yunaki and Meereen as they look to overthrow Daenerys. As for Daenerys, in this latest book, she and Tyrion will finally cross paths, but not until late in the novel. Martin has made a promise that the characters will interest as Tyrion has a strong desire to live, so all of his fans can hope that his character will live for some time. This is what he had to say regarding the two characters and their connections:

“Well, Tyrion and Dany will intersect, in a way, but for much of the book they’re still apart. They both have quite large role to play here. Tyrion has decided that he actually would like to live, for one thing, which he wasn’t entirely sure of during the last book, and he’s now working towards that end — if he can survive the battle that’s breaking out all around him…And Dany has embraced her heritage as a Targaryen and embraced the Targaryen words. So they’re both coming home.”

About darn time if you ask me. Now, there is still no release date for the upcoming novel and as far as speculation goes, fans of the series may not see novel on shelves until 2017. That’s a long way from now, but better late than never.
