Brandon Routh is returning to spandex in ‘Arrow’

Brandon Routh gained fame with his portrayal of the big blue boy scout in Superman Returns, also known as Superman III for those of you who saw Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut. Since then he has appeared on Chuck and in the movie Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, where he played a character who maintained the peace between monsters and humans. His character had come similarities between Constantine, which is to be expected considering they both came from Vertigo.

Now it would seem the man who was Clark Kent will be taking on a new role that involves the same blue and red spandex. Nope, he won’t be Superman, instead he will be taking on the new guise of Ray Palmer, also known as The Atom.

According to TV Line, Routh will be a recurring guest star on the Arrow TV series. He might now have the costume on in his first visit, but there may be a time when he will take on the red and blue super shrinking suit. The description of the role is as follows:

“An unparalleled scientist and inventor, Ray will play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver and (rumored love interest) Felicity as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Palmer’s plans for Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division will be shrouded in mystery.”

Personally, I would love to see Routh reprise his role as star reporter Clark Kent and Superman, but to see him play one of my favorite boy scouts in the DC Universe, well, I can believe it…and I love it.
