Moving Beyond Consoles: The Future of Metal Gear Solid – GameSpot

By Peter Brown There are many relevant video game series that began in the 1980s, but very few have retained their cachet as well as Metal Gear has. Everything you need to know before playing Dark Souls 2 – GameSpot

By Martin Gaston Dark Souls II launches next week, and From Software’s follow-up to surprise hit Dark Souls looks set to be just as intricate as untangling a set of earphones that have been sitting in your pocket for a week. Even more daunting: If you’re a player familiar with Dark Souls, well, you can pretty much say goodbye to all the tricks you (may have) used to get through those ominous dungeons. Advantage PS4: Why Sony is winning the console war – GameSpot

By: Justin Haywald Just in case you’re someone who’s inclined to read the title of this opinion piece, skim the first paragraph, and then jump straight to the comments section, this is not a doom-and-gloom message for Microsoft. The Xbox One is selling really well, the Microsoft games division isn’t about to go out of business, and the launch of the Xbox One has not been a complete disaster (though it’s been a small one). But the Xbox One is in second []

How to Fix Final Fantasy – GameSpot

By: Kevin VanOrd Final Fantasy is broken. With Lightning Returns, it has become clear that Square Enix is suffering from a crisis of imagination, caught between a desire to give players what we want while still searching for the creative energy to deliver something we’ve never seen before. I believe, however, that with Toriyama’s trilogy past us, Final Fantasy XV could become the great crystal hope we’ve been aching for. And to make that so, FFXV director Tetsuya Nomura sh[…] Read more []
