Weekly Reading List #102

By Cynthia Ayala

Hey there people of the page. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. I’m still backlogged on books, working hard to make sure I stay on top of them and that my book reviews don’t suffer either. Although they tend to when I do them last minute and in a rush. But I’m working on remembering to take a breath and just take everyday ass a new day. I feel like I’ve been rushing through my life lately, just with books and my reviews. So, even though I’m backlogged I’m just going to take a small step back and breathe.

So, on that note, check out my new reading list.

Weekly Reading List #101

By Cynthia Ayala

Hey there people of the page. So, it turns out that I have once again become backlogged on books. I have until Sept 2 to read 4 books. I’ve knocked one out of the park (these are ARCs with expiration dates btw) and I’m in the middle of two at the moment. I’m saving the longest for last while I go through these two, using every spare moment, my sleepless nights (I’m an insomniac) to read, read, read. I guess it’s a good thing I have finished prelim edits on my novel. I printed out a copy for myself so that I can go over formatting and editing issues that will no doubt need to be addressed. So, until that arrives in the mail, I plan on using all this free time to catch up on this reading. I’ve also gotten control over my anemia again. I’m not great at taking care of myself and I feel fine most of the time so I don’t take my iron pills but when I crash, boy do I crash. And you know what one of the symptoms of anemia is? Loss of interest. So I was reading slower than usual, spending half my time just being a lazy bum. But I’ve taken my iron pills every day for the past 6 days, getting my iron up as best as possible. And the change is noticeable.

So here you go folks, my upcoming reading list for this week. Since my energy is up, I have no doubt that I will catch up on my reading. At least, that’s the hope. Happy reading!

Weekly Reading List #87

By Cynthia Ayala

Hey there readers! Guess who is finally a graduate of Emerson College! This girl! Boy was it cold, and wet, lots of rain in Boston this past weekend. My mom and grandmother took so many pictures of me and Dennis Lehane was my commencement speaker, which was super cool btw. Anyway, it was tons of fun I just wished my uncle, aunt and fiancé had been there with me, but I’ll see them soon enough. On the bright side on the 21-hour drive I took back home with my mom (because we were moving furniture back to FL from BOS) I got a lot of reading done. So check out this week’s reading list. Happy reading!

Weekly Reading List #61

By Cynthia Ayala

Hey there avid readers! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend. For me my fiancé is coming to visit next weekend for Halloween so I’m trying really hard to get as much done as humanly possible so that I don’t have to worry about school work and can somewhat relax with him. It’ll be nice J. School going great I’m working on three different projects right now, I’m editing one book, typing the second, and starting something completely different that has dragons because who doesn’t love dragons. And there is something not working in the first chapter of my novel so I’m going to finish fine tuning it for my creative writing class so that I can turn it in and figure out what isn’t working. Maybe it’s the fact that I wrote it 5 years ago and my writing style has changed, maybe it’s something in the presentation. I don’t know, that’s what class is for. So this weekend was really dedicated to that and lots of reading and writing. But anyway, check out my weekly reading list for the next week. Happy reading! Continue reading Weekly Reading List #61

An Addicting, Dark and Gritty Retelling | Review of ‘Dorothy Must Die’ (Dorothy Must Die #1)

By Cynthia Ayala

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige
HarperCollins

Oz has changed since Dorothy returned. Oz is darker, a nasty place where the Good Witches are evil and the Wicked are just trying to survive and return Oz to the beautiful place it once was. Power and fame went to Dorothy’s head, and with that, her hunger for magic grew, forcing her to take it from the World of Oz itself. But now her power is truly threatened by one Amy Gumm, the other girl from Kansas who landed in Oz in a tornado and who has been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked for one purpose: to kill Dorothy.

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige is her debut novel in and the first in the Dorothy Must Die series published by HarperCollins on April 1, 2014. The story takes an interesting retelling for the young adult audience that is dark, gritty, incredibly entertaining, and impossible to put down.
