Skyrim Patch 1.6 Adds Mounted Combat

Bethesda Softworks has announced that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim patch 1.6 will add a whole host of features, but the biggest is that mounted combat will now be possible.

This is a huge addition for the game, as it means you won’t have to get off your trusty steed every time you want to smite some foes. Instead, you’ll be able to stab them with a sword, or used ranged combat if that’s more your thing.

Alongside this addition, Bethesda will also be fixing numerous bugs that have plagued the game. This includes the standard re-optimisation of the game’s performance, but also some quest-ending bugs. For example, an issue will be fixed in “The Break of Dawn” where sometimes Meridia’s Beacon would disappear from your inventory.

For the Xbox 360 version of the game, there will also be some fixes for Kinect-specific bugs. One such bug saw shouts only performing their first level of power, and another which would stop shouts working at all, if people also used the controller.

There’s no estimated time of arrival for the patch yet, but if you’re playing Skyrim on the PC, you’ll be able to get access to the patch at the moment in its beta form. We’ll let you know when patch 1.6 goes live on all the other platforms though, so don’t worry about that.
