The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight Rises…It saddens me, as a Batman fan, this movie did not live up to the hype.  To quote CNN’s Tom Charity this movie was a “disappointingly clunky and bombastic conclusion to a superior series".  This movie had so much potential, it was about one of the greatest storylines imaginable.  Bane breaking the Bat.  Oh man, that part of the movie, that part was good.  But then everything else was just…crap.  There I said it.  I am Batman Fan, I have been reading these comics for years, my mom has as well.  This was a bitter disappointment.  I mean here, they have a bomb, that they know how to detonate but they don’t because they want to watch Bruce suffer, except they sent him away, to pit prison, where he miraculously fixes his back, and they have all his money.  Okay, how does he get home if he has no money, no funds, and seriously, he fixes his back, just like that?  Nolan, what did you do to my Batman?  This movie was a bitter disappointment.  And then Blake his name is Robin? Are you kidding me?  I mean, this Blake, Catman, for all intensive purposes I thought “this is an amazing way for him to become Catman.”  But, no, his name is Robin and he’s going to be the next Batman?  There was so much potential for this movie, so much, it could have been great, it had the potential to, but it wasn’t.  I give credit to the acting, the actors did a phenomenal job, even Tom Hardy, except, I couldn’t always understand what he was saying.  Above all though, I have to say, Anne Hathaway’s portrayal of Catwoman was perfect.  She embodied the character, she made everything look effortless.  She was worth seeing this movie.  She was the script, even though the screenplay sucked, the script was good.  And let’s not forget those special effects.  They were pretty awesome.  Nolan’s mistake was killing the villains, not giving Talia and Catwoman a cat fight and of course not leaving anything to the imagination.  He had to explain everything which dragged out the movie and made longer than it should have.  I was sitting thinking “how long have I been here?”.  2.5/4 ‘s and a “C”.
