Hello all, my name is Cynthia Ayala and I have just been promoted to the position of Creative Director for World Light Review’s Young Adult, Fantasy and Science Fiction.
Articles will continue to be published on the World Light Review URL. We are looking to publish at least one original article daily Monday-Friday. We would like to see the following formats:
1. Individual Reviews: Book, film or comic reviews on individual works, just like the ones you have been submitting. 500-1,000 words.
2. Lists: Examples include “Top Ten Gateway Books into Science Fiction”. At least 5 points, over 800-1,500 words.
3. Sci-fi/Fantasy Commentary: Short Essays on themes common to multiple works of literature, with a unique insight. Think H.P. Lovecraft’s famous essay Supernatural Horror in Literature, in which he analyzes the evolution, themes, and value of the horror genre. These should have a slightly academic feel to them, but still be readily accessible to a general readership. 1,000-2,500 words.
4. Quirky Musings: Interesting musings on seemingly trivial topics that would capture the interest of sci-fi/fantasy fans. For example, “what if Middle Earth and Narnia actually exist in the same universe,” or “Who would win in a fight, Boba Fett or Death Stroke?” 500-1,000 words.
Each article should contain at least two hyperlinks to outside sources and at least three photographs, one of which will serve as the cover image that appears on Facebook, etc. This helps our SEO visibility. Be sure there are no copyright issues with pictures.
Can we pay you? Not yet, but we’re close. Our goal is to generate enough readers so that our revenue goes up which would allow us to pay our writers. So we need people who can at least contribute at least twice a month so that we have posts Monday – Friday.
If you’re interested please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Put your name and “World Light Review Writer” in the subject line and include your five favorite books, a little about yourself and writing samples.
I hope to hear from you soon!
