Weekly Reading List #26

By Cynthia Ayala

Hey there avid readers! So I am almost done with this semester. Woohoo! I’m so excited to go back home, hug my mom and kitties and kiss my fiancé. Also, I’m looking forward to actually having some me to write and read. I don’t get a lot of time to do that unfortunately but I will be doing that for three weeks….when I’m not working at the movie theater dealing with a bunch of customers who are unhappy with their seating arrangements with Star Wars. Yeah, that’s gonna be fun, I know it. Anyway, I hope that everyone is having a wonderful weekend and such. I will be spending this weekend working on papers! Woo! (not really) but so far this semester is going good, now I just need to finish it with a bang and pass my classes.

Anyway, here’s what’s on my reading schedule for the next week. As always synopsis courtesy of Goodreads.com.

173721461. Catalyst (Control, #2)

By Lydia Kang

“In the past year Zel lost her father, the boy she loves, her safety, and any future she might have imagined for herself. Now she, her sister, and the band of genetic outcasts they’ve come to call their family are forced on the run when their safe house is attacked by men with neural guns. But on the way to a rumored haven in Chicago, Zel hears something–a whisper from Cy, the boy who traded himself for her sister’s safety. And when she veers off plan in order to search for him, what she finds is not what she expected. There’s more to their genetic mutations than they ever imagined…aspects that make them wonder if they might be accepted by the outside world after all.”

23507369 (1)2. The Guard (Lorien Legacies: The Lost Files, #12)

By Pittacus Lore

“In this spectacular one-hundred-page companion novella to the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series, learn how Loric hacker Lexa became the shadowy figure known as GUARD.

A sequel to I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: The Navigator, this novella picks up with Lexa shortly after the Mogadorians raided her hideout and murdered her friend. Determined to get her revenge but knowing she can’t take the Mogs head on, Lexa goes in search of a weapon that just might help her do some real damage: the spaceship the Garde flew to Earth. The only problem is it’s under lock and key at a highly guarded base in Dulce, New Mexico.

Lexa’s quest to retrieve the ship and track down the Garde has her cross paths with an ally of Pittacus Lore, come under fire from both the FBI and the Mogs, and team up with a headstrong teenager from Paradise, Ohio, by the name of Mark James. To get her secret weapon, Lexa will do whatever it takes. But as the Mogadorians begin their invasion, will it be enough to help save the Garde—and the world?”

23108993. Metal Swarm (The Saga of Seven Suns, #6)

By Kevin J. Anderson

“For years, the alien Klikiss robots have pretended to be humanity’s friends, but their seeming “help” allowed them to plant an insidious Trojan Horse throughout the Earth Defense Forces. Now, in the aftermath of a devastating war, swarms of ancient robots built by the Klikiss continue their depredations on helpless worlds with stolen and heavily armed Earth battleships.

Among the humans, the Hansa’s brutal Chairman struggles to crush any resistance even as King Peter breaks away to form his own new Confederation among the colonies who have declared their independence.

And meanwhile, the original, voracious Klikiss race, long thought to be extinct, has returned, intent on conquering their former worlds and willing to annihilate anyone in the way.”

Let me know what you think :)
