There is finally a release date for 24 Caret Games’ Retro/Grade. The game will be released for the PlayStation 3 and co-founder of 24 Caret Games, Matt Gilgenbach, confirmed that the game is set to launch on the PlayStation Network August 21st. Hey that’s just ten days before I turn 21. Sorry.
The gameplay of Retro/Grade will mix the shoot-‘em-up and rhythm genres, putting players in control of the familiar lone starship fighting against an enemy armada.. However, there will be a temporal twist. The game actually takes place in reverse, with players maneuvering the ship in order to put it where it needed to be to shoot it’s missiles while still avoiding enemy fire. Okay, that sounds wicked cool.
Another fun tidbit is, instead of only using the standard PS3 controller, players can also use a rhythm game guitar to control the ship.
The Retro/Grade soundtrack will be available to purchase on PSN, either on it’s own or bundled with the game
