Ryan Reynolds May Go A Bit Nuts In Psychological Thriller The Voices

By: Eric Eisenberg

the_voices_33463It’s been a fairly quiet year for Ryan Reynolds, but that may just be because of how loud 2011 was. Last summer he had his big chance at a breakout, starring in Green Lantern and The Change Up, but neither of those films were able to do what they were expected to do at the box office. Earlier this year he played alongside Denzel Washington, but even that seems a long time back at this point (as does his tiny cameo in Ted). But now it looks he’s back to picking up roles and is now working towards added a new thriller to his list of upcoming projects.

Reynolds has entered early talks to star in The Voices, a new film from director Marjane Satrapi. Deadline says that the script was written byParanormal Activity‘s Michael R. Perry and is about a man named Jerry Hickfang, a “lovable but strange” guy who works for a bathtub factory. He spends a great deal of his time pining for a woman in the accounting department. The problem is that Jerry is also a little bit nutter butters and when his relationship with the woman results in murder he can only turn to his “evil talking cat and benevolent talking dog.” The script has previously made the Black List, which is the annual list of the most popular unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. Satrapi is best known for writing and directing the 2007 animated film Persepolis.

Next year should once again be a big year for Reynolds, who is voicing characters in two animated films – The Croods and Turbo – and acting in two live action roles – R.I.P.D. and Big Eyes. And, of course, we’re all still waiting for him to dedicate some of his time to Deadpool.
