Weekly Reading List #172

By Cynthia Bujnicki

Hey there avid readers! I hope everyone is having a wonderful time this week. I’m doing great. A little tired, became Full Time at my job which has left me just a little tired at the end of the day which means I fall asleep reading almost every night. But I’m getting used to it and using my days off to read and write as much as possible. I’ve barely had any time to write my own novel but I’m working on it. Just a little bit whenever I can, and lately, since I’m pregnant, I’ve started to read out loud so that the baby can bond with my voice. Wednesday if it’s a girl, Gomez if it’s a boy. This little one is going to be an Addams.

But I digress, since I’ve been reading out loud and listening to audio books, I’m slowing starting o catch up on my reading list. It’s hard, but one must always make time for the things one loves. So, on that note, check out this week’s latest reading list. Let me know what you think about the titles below.

1. Peter Green and the Unliving Academy: This Book is Full of Dead People (The Unliving Chronicles 1)

by Angelina Allsop

Fourteen-year-old Peter Green can’t remember how he died.
All he has are his pajamas, a silk tie, and a one-way bus ticket to Mrs. Battisworth’s Academy and Haven for Unliving Boys and Girls, a strange and spooky school for dead orphans like himself. But that’s all he needs: the Unliving Academy has everything, from vampires in the hallways, to monsters in the cafeteria, to ghosts in the basement.

And that’s just the teachers; the students are far stranger.

As Pete learns to fit in with his new supernatural schoolmates, he starts to discover his own uniquely undead abilities, and even begins enjoying his life after death…but he just can’t shake the feeling that he’s forgotten something (or somebody!) important.

Somebody he left behind in the land of the living.

Somebody he loved very much.

Somebody who’s in terrible danger.

Peter Green and the Unliving Academy is the captivating first installment of Angelina Allsop’s Unliving series of young adult fantasy novels. If you like reading about fun-filled adventures, fully realized new worlds, and the most unlikely of heroes, you’re sure to love Allsop’s spirited coming-of-age tale.

Fans of Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, the Charlie Bone Series by Jenny Nimmo, and The Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton will enjoy this young adult fantasy series.

2. Potency (Glow #1)

by Aubrey Hadley

The Maasai Mara Sleeping Syndrome has returned after a six-month hiatus. This time, it’s popped up in New York, and it’s wiped out an entire homeless shelter.

The same night of the outbreak, Harper, a seventeen-year-old girl, stumbles across a glowing figure in the desert outskirts of her neighborhood. As her suburb goes on lockdown, Harper finds herself isolated from her friends and family, and soon begins to suspect that the events — though thousands of miles apart — may have something in common.

Harper must find her bravery and embark on a plot-twisting adventure that will have her looking for answers in unexpected places… and worlds.

3. The Darkest Star (Origin #1)

by Jennifer L. Armentrout

When seventeen-year-old Evie Dasher is caught up in a raid at a notorious club known as one of the few places where humans and the surviving Luxen can mingle freely, she meets Luc, an unnaturally beautiful guy she initially assumes is a Luxen…but he is in fact something much more powerful. Her growing attraction for Luc will lead her deeper and deeper into a world she’d only heard about, a world where everything she thought she knew will be turned on its head…

#1 New York Times, USA Today, and internationally bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout returns to the universe of the Lux in this brand new series, featuring beloved characters both new and old.
