Back in May, Square Enix released the last DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2 which was the Requiem of the Goddess pack. However, we may be getting more content for the Final Fantasy XIII series.
Motomu Toriyama was recently interviewed by Famitsu.com at the Taipei Game Developers Conference. They asked Toriyama if we could expect any more Final Fantasy XIII related content at the upcoming Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Event.
His reply: “The [FFXIII-2] Lightning download content had an ending that left a feeling of mystery and hope. The day when the meaning of this will come to light is not too far off.”
The 25th Anniversary event is an art gallery that is going to be held in Shibuya from 31st August until 2nd September.
Regarding the DLC releases for Final Fantasy XIII-2, Toriyama mentioned that he realised that some fans disliked having to buying content that wasn’t on the game disc. He has travelled around the world and heard opinions from players on this. Some the fans he asked wanted all of the content to be available on the disc. Toriyama said,”this poses a dilemma as development times would have to go up.”
Besides Final Fantasy XIII, Toriyama was also interviewed on Final Fantasy X HD. When he was asked for a progress report, he said, “Regarding HD conversions, there is a lot to look into, so please wait a bit more.”
Lastly, Famitsu asked Toriyama for his impression of the Luminous Engine for their Next-Gen Development. He answered that the engine allows for amazing visuals at a level unchanged from pre-rendered CG, and that he is looking forward to it. He also said: “While still at the technology development stage, we’re currently moving to the phase where we come together with our game development teams and prepare for next generation machines.”
